I haven't seen these programs might get them here in 5 or so years [Canada] but having seen a few of these semi reality / handson programs they are very very far from reality, lots of made up and embellished drama to boost the rating, watch the pretty pictures and ignore most of the narrative.

Never tried a canal boat, even though I have a friend who used to build them 4 miles from me in Poynton, he had a very successful business and always had a full order book, he sold up to follow his lad competing in the World downhill mountain Bike Championship, they both live on their own boats along with former World Champion Steve Peat. The Macc canal is 200yards from my house but I've not visited it for around twenty years, yet I will happily drive 5+ hours to the broads. Funny old world isn't it.....

Same position as Dzign, where I am in SK8, Stockport, there is the Bridgewater, Macclesfield, Trent & Mersey & Peak Forest within a few minutes drive, but have never wanted to sample, but I just enjoy the Broads & like Dzign don't count the 5+ hours to get there, especially when you can get off the madhouse that some A roads have become!

Just missed the early programme, but Tim and Pru are on again at 2100 hrs tonight on Channel 4 + 1. Episode 3 of series 9 sees them exploring the waterways of NW England. Steve.
Steve & Maggie Not quite an ancient mariner ...... though some say he was at sea before Pontius was a pilate !

An earlier post mentioned Tim's description of boating as a contact sport. We had first hand experience of that. We were moored at Ludham Bridge when they were filming there in 2017. The Lady Christina was moored directly astern and the Winsome was in Front. It must have been around 10.30pm, pitch black. We were having a game of cards and a sherbert in the saloon when we were whacked up the back end by Lady Christina. It must have been at the low point of the tide. They waved "sorry". Our claim to fame really. And we fell over them as they entered the White Lion at Neatished as we were leaving. Chris
