A Flood Alert has been issued by the Environment Agency for the Tidal River Yare.

Flooding is possible for the Tidal River Yare from Thorpe St Andrew to Breydon Water.

The forecast high water is due at Great Yarmouth on 11 January 2017 at 8:10pm.

Low lying land and roads will be affected first.

Be prepared.

We are expecting high tides due to a combination of spring tides and a tidal surge. Elevated levels are expected throughout the evening. We will continue to monitor levels closely and update this message as necessary.

- Be prepared to protect yourself and your property.

- Keep your colleagues informed about the situation.

- Avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.

- Farmers should consider moving livestock and equipment away from areas likely to flood.

- Keep an eye on local water levels and weather conditions.  Visit the Environment Agency website www.gov.uk/environment-agency for river level and flooding information.

- Call Floodline on 0345 988 1188 using quickdial 0342 for up-to-date flooding information.
