The shower was a problem as previously mentioned, that is to say that the volume of water coming in was greater that the extract pump could manage to keep up with.

The short term solution was to keep the flow turned down. It became apparent that the shower tray threshold needed raising as it was only the 1”,  this now has been done to the 2” version, tiled/grouted on the inside and  a new dressing piece applied and varnished on the outside, only 4 x more coats of varnish to apply now, see photo  -  Griff

The wheelhouse warm air outlet was of the fixed open variety as per instructed by Mikuni.  However we have discovered that having this permanently open vent takes some of the control away from us the crew in heating management of ‘B.A’  That is to say if you want to force feed warm air to one cabin only you can’t as the wheelhouse is always drawing off the heat,  well no more as we have changed the vent to a controllable flap vent. Now to remind the crew that one vent MUST be open at all times when in use – Photo  -  Griff

Removing the wheelhouse furniture to change the flap vent and investigate the new site for the Mikuni pump was just great fun and hopefully that will be the last time I have to do so.  The Mikuni pump will have be moved to a permanent new location when Mr Chairman and myself are onboard at the same time, in the meantime it will do where it is for now.  The oil and glycol stowage is completed, a couple of bits of hardwood in this case oak, aluminium primer and a paintbrush = job done.  -  Griff

The Sunday panned out in much the same vein although that Russ character was being a light-weight as he wasn't feeling too well the poor dear.

On the Sat we visited Martham ferry boatyard for a scout round - sad place and in a right mess now.
We also paid J.W a visit and used his workshop once again, said Hi to Steve Birtles of the BA.

Jack the upholsterer came onboard to measure up for those 2 x sound arresters and the conversion matress/covering for the Fwd cabin. I'll be delivering the restored/enhanced helms chair to him this coming Friday for him to work his magic on.

The wet-shed locker arrangement we are making - sadly didn't get time to look at this at all so no progres there.

I'm onboard this Thursday evening with Mrs G, we then have four friends arriving on Friday for a long weekend afloat, hopefully I may well be able to sneak in a few snagging items if I'm crafty. Must remember to hide the varnish onboard somewhere  -  Griff

Just as an afterthought and a plea for help here.

If you look back at the shower dressing photo, you can see a strip of solid brass on the door threshold. Try as i might I just cannot source any of this stuff.

It is flat thick solid brass bar with grooves milled lengthways.   It is NOT the thin curved anodised type stuff found in B&Q and the like that is designed for use as a carpet threshold etc. We need 3 x lengths of this, any ideas from you knowledgable lot please???

Also looking back at the photo of the replacement flap vent, to the right you can see some aluminium 'Hockey' strip.  I need abour 2m of this to dress the edge of an identical opening (Opening can be viewed to the left of the flap vent), again your help would be appreciated and NO it is not available in B&Q cos I've been in to look-see.

Thanks  -  Griff

Hi Griff
Your aluminium hockey stick moulding looks exactly like a standard Blackburns Metals stock item.

Mouldings Link.

Scroll down to cope and look at 903. I cannot find the size from their website but am sure its the one. I used to buy it from them. They have a branch in Norwich and else where. Its very soft and bends easily round corners.

It was used in the caravan trade and either Great Yarmouth Caravans 01493 844428 or Caravan Service Centre, Bessemer Road, Norwich 01603 623102 used to use and stock it if Blackburns wont deal direct with you.

Fendoff - T.V.M.O.M  You are a mine of information, I'll get right onto it and have a ring round on the numbers you supplied.

As you will be aware our newly restored Helms chair will be completed very soon.  Where should I deliver your helms chair to sir??  -  Griff
