Whilst at J.W's we had a family of swans visit us three times daily, B'fast, lunch and early evening.  The cygnets are very near fully matured.  Six was the family including Mum and Dad.  They had an annoying habit of pecking 'B.A's lower rubbing strip on the transom and soon learnt that we would stop them by feeding them.  It started off annoying but was quite amusing I have to say.

Here DollyD speeds up the drying process after yet another shower.  Not the best photo I have ever taken of him  Evil Grin

How about making the aft hatch covers match up with the same material as the well deck floor and rudder hatch?

Simon - I love you matey!

Cracking idea, I have enough 'Dek-King' left over to do just that.  Now why didn't I think of it?

I'll get onto it during my next visit.

Sigh . . . . .

GriffTiff quite rightly as it happens pointed out that at this stage it would be unwise to 'Dek-King' the two hatches.  Doing so would raise the aluminium strips by 5mm thereby creating a trip hazard.  The answer is of course to fit a border of 'Dek-King' under the edges of the aluminium hatches, then the trip hazard would be the 'Dek-King' itself.  To avoid that involves applying 'Dek-King' to the whole of 'B.A's decks.

Something we would very much like to do but the cost of buying the materials is a bit eye watering to say the least.

The labour for fitting is of course free as no doubt I will be doing it. No small undertaking as all the deck fittings would have to be removed / replaced, cleats, fair-leads 3 x tank caps and the like.  Quite a few days work involved there, plus temperature whilst fitting is a factor as I found out when I did the well-deck

Notice owt different with the attached photo?

The Powles staff is now around 6" higher than it used to be.  The pennant was catching on the horns consequently it was in danger of wearing it out, the edge of the stitching was showing signs of wear and tear, Mum-in-Law re-stitched it for us.  Bought a slightly longer staff no problem (Nearest and Dearest in Hoveton) but then had to get a s/steel sleeve made up for the bottom of the staff, and of course a s/steel drop nosed pin to replace the threaded knurled knob which was a bit awkward to find the threads.

That's another job ticked off the snagging list  Smile
