Hi all. Newbie here needing some advice. I have recently purchased a Broom Pisces in need of restoration. I am thinking of adapting the transom and using an outboard instead of an outdrive. My questions are these....
1: will this work ok? and....
2: if so, what height should I make transom where the outboard will fit?
My idea is to use the engine cover originally fitted to make a lockable storage space.
Your help and suggestions would be most appreciated.
I have attached a couple of pictures before I start

The problem with some boats is that they acquire a following, and over the years go up in value. So before doing something non standard I would think long and hard, then just go for it.

You have probably already done so but, if you google Broom Pisces, you will find several blogs by people who have restored one (or more!).

Hi Stuart, we used to be moored at the yard until it was sold and saw the last Broom boat come out of the shed. John Broom now hires plant and equipment. If you google john broom plant hire you should get a usable phone number. A few years back he was still able to supply some spares.

Hi all. Thanks for your replies. I have indeed studied for hours on the restoration of these speedboats but unfortunately I cannot find one that has been swoped to an outboard setup. My intention is to keep the boat and use it, I am not too concerned as to the future value and they all have a price ceiling anyway.
From what I can gather the Pisces is virtually the same as the Scorpio which itself has an outboard.
If someone has a Scorpio, would you mind measuring the height of the transom outboard mounting from the center of the bottom of the hull for me please? anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.
Or if anyone knows why this conversion cannot be done, can you let me know please.
Stuart
