After various bits of my old ticker disappeared it went quiet. There was diesel (my favourite tipple of course - red or white...) left in important places "to soak" but very little else was happening. Not good I thought. My planned swimming day came and went and the closest I got to the river was when the tide came up. Not another year of this please...

Just at the point I had decided it wasn't happening for me back the humans came. The top half taken from my ticker was now looking refreshed and a selection of new bits sat there with it. Oh how exciting!

Dismay soon followed though. Nobody told me I needed to absorb the diesel (did I mention thats my favourite tipple by the way?) into my rusty piston. So I didnt! What happened next is evidentally called 'easing'. And it smarts, big time! For the best part of two hours I was 'eased' until my ticker finally managed to release its grip. It still sends shivers through my timbers thinking about it but the relief afterwards followed by the feeling of my moving parts moving again was worth it.

The funny thing is that while all this was taking my full attention I hadn't noticed what had been going on elsewhere. And then it hit me... almost literally... tar varnish! Oodles of lovely, fresh, shiny, smelly, new tar varnish. I was covered in it... twice!

That slipway looked possible again with my ticker now restored to a reasonable state and a week later that nice human Jim came with his equipment and I was finally heading for the river

If I am a "woody" how come there are no "fibreglassy's" "plasticy's" or "steelies"?

Ooh I know Jim well.
My trusty old girl lives at his place.  Does this mean that I am likely to bump into you (not literally, don't panic) at some stage Janet Anne?  Smile

Hi Charlie, my little girl is still at the side of the house undergoing her own refit at the moment. When finished she will be on the river Cam for her first year and then hopefully the Broads so it may be a while before you "bump" into me Smile

all the best
