Add To Ignore List

I have received a lengthy email from the Broads No-Authority Data Protection Officer, the salient points of which are:

”I have reviewed the timeline, the original posted content and I have concluded  that this error has resulted in a breach of data protection and the actions have fallen short of our normally high reporting standards.

I have reported this matter to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO)...

...Following this recent error, I have put in place a number of safeguards to prevent this type of low level data breach happening again and we will be reviewing any retained CCTV images to ensure data retention passes GDPR and Data Protection.

These new processes have been provided to the ICO as part of the self-reporting format.”

I have been in contact with the ICO’s office. The actions the BNA has now taken are deemed to be acceptable, although the retention of the data for 2 years raised an eyebrow, as being an excessive period of time.

Hopefully, those actions will include giving the media team lessons on data handling! I would have thought that such knowledge of the data legislation would have been a requisite for any candidate for the job.
