As you may be aware the Broads Authority is contemplating an increase in tolls next year of the order of 4%. This is way above current inflation of 0.8% CPI each and of the 1.4% of RBI. Furthermore during the current licensing year, we will have had exactly 4 months use out of 12. Many consider that this is not acceptable. The matter is to be considered at a reconvened virtual meeting of the Broads Authority on 9 February 2021. I invite you to write a short letter to: - The Chief Executive, The Broads Authority, Yare House, 62-64 Thorpe Rd, Norwich NR1 1RY We simply need to make two points, firstly that we have had extremely poor value for money from last year's tolls and secondly that in the present circumstances a substantially above the inflation rate is not acceptable. If you do consider writing the BA have stated that the last day for representation is 3 days before the meeting. Again I know packman has his own agenda and he likes to screw us over, at least you get the chance to let him know what you think

Without wishing to discourage anyone from taking up the pen, history has show that, time and time again, the Broads No-Authority has ridden roughshod over the wishes and interests of toll payers (particularly the private toll payers). Even though HMG told John Packman he could not use the term Broads National Park, and despite the misgiving expressed by the RYA, NSBA and numerous private individuals, John Packman took advantage of DEFRA's indifference to what he does to conduct the rebranding exercise. Ostensibly for marketing purpose only (he said), it has now pervaded every aspect of the Broads No-Authority's activities and the pretence that it was for marketing only has long been exposed.

Just had my National Trust membership renewal and they are charging 2019 rates due to the closure of some places due to pandemic. If they can do it when they have all these old properties to maintain i am sure BNA can do it.

I do realise that packman will ignore our protests, but these are just going to keep rising yearly, packman doesn't give two hoots about boaters apart from the revenue.

Halftone said, "Just had my National Trust membership renewal and they are charging 2019 rates due to the closure of some places due to pandemic. If they can do it when they have all these old properties to maintain i am sure BNA can do it." That rather gives the lie to the BNA's assertion that the Broads needs the same maintenance, whether boats are moving or not. There seems to have been little effort made to find any meaningful savings - and why should there be, as the cash-cow is always ready for milking.

You have it spot on there Pally I'm afraid. I think I will write anyway, we all should if we feel that way. Then the Non Authority cannot claim nobody objected. I'm aware that some moorings businesses across The Broads have not increased their charges this year , though others have. I applaud those who have recognised the need to see it from their customers point of view and make some consideration for the restrictions boaters have suffered over the last year. Karen

Would anyone have the email address of the CEO of the broads authority, so we can send our objections in an email?
