Oh dear! The pub owner is quoted as saying, “As the definition of a National Park is for people to enjoy these pleasures, every support should be given by the BA to encourage the facilities and allow this to happen. Instead, it appears every effort is being made to obstruct alternative uses to make the pub viable.”

What was it the Judge said? Something about the public wouldn't be confused by the expression Broads National Park?

THE BROADS IS NOT A NATIONAL PARK?

"..for the avoidance of any doubt, the broads are not legally a national park and do not come under the national park legislation, and nor will they."
Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for DEFRA (Hansard 2015)

Just to clarify one thing - is that the owner or the landlord?? If it is the owner, there are more than a few stories around the river banks about him!!

Hardly surprising then that he and the BA do not exactly hit it off. Even if it is the landlord, time he became aware that there is one rule for all of us to abide by, and not one for some and others for the rest of us.

Not sure that he will get too much sympathy...!! (Although I could be wrong of course as I often am!)

I think it's the owners Son,The owner also owns the Ferry House at Surlingham as well as the Berney Arms, so I'm led to believe.

Not the Ferry House any more!

Admiral Taverns are the actual owners and Sonia leases it direct from them I believe.

I can confirm the last post, ray hollocks has nowt to do with the ferryhouse at all (hence it is actually worth going to), he does own the berney and I believe loddon boatyard.
Yes there are plenty of stories about him indeed mostly involving dubious financial activities and poor tennant treatment and the odd naughty ways of heating businesses, how true I wouldn't like to comment, just riverside stories you see and not being local I didn't recognise anyone telling them.....  Wink

And battles with planning at the BA especially as he appeared to wish to be able to turn his waterside hostelries into houses - after the debacle at Langley, this was hardly ever likely to curry favour with the planning department.

Strikes me, that the son could possibly take a lesson or two....! Having said that all he wants to do is fill his car park with statics - my guess is, for what its worth, is that he may struggle a bit given all the circumstances!!
