Will someone please tell me that the Broads Authority hasn’t wasted toll payers’ money on buying a drone to make useless videos like this one!

Lets hope not Paladine.
Apart from the cost, personally I cannot abide those things. Because they are both intrusive in a voyeuristic kind of way, and because of the annoying noise that they make. The less of them on the planet the better IMO.
Having said that... they would make ideal replacements for clay pigeons!

Nothing wrong with the title, which refers to “using” dredged spoil, and the spoil is taken from the main river and is not therefore ‘pointless’.  The title/film doesn’t claim to be of the dredging taking place, but is of what happens to what is dredged, in this case building up the flood defence banks beyond the overflow lagoons.  Anything dredged from the river has to go somewhere, and it is fortunate that some landowners are happy to accept the spoil in this way; a mutually beneficial result.

And yes, I do believe BA have bought a drone, and trained a member of staff to use it; actually a couple of years back.  My understanding is that they hired a drone and operator to do some aerial survey work for the Hickling reedbed restoration project a few years ago, and quickly realised that actually it would be a lot cheaper to buy their own machine and train an operator for future survey work, with the added ‘bonus’ of being able to do some promotional filming.

Personally I hate the things too ... How much do air rifles cost?

Thank you, Bobdog, for that explanation of what was happening. Those who know don’t need the video. For those who don’t know, a voice-over, or a few words of explanation under the video, would have been helpful. As it is, a silent video of a digger pushing some mud around is, well, just useless, IMO.

Is this why no one posts here any more? It’s just not-picking and moaning?

Well, well. If you now click the link in the OP, you'll see the video has been edited from the original. The BNP logo flashes up at the beginning, and there is now a text explanation of what the video is depicting.

So someone in the BA obviously agreed with me. Sorry, batrabill. Sometime nit-picking and moaning pays off.
