Allegedly? No, it's a matter of public record. Since the Transparency of Lobbying, Non-Party Campaigning and Trade Union Administration Act 2014 was passed, all professional lobbying consultants must be registered. The register is available to view on-line and includes a list of their clients. The RSPB makes use of such consultants, as can be seen here.

Nothing sinister in that, as if you look here and look at a few of the editions of the register, you can find any number of reputable and worthwhile organisations that use lobbying consultancies.

I fully expect that the usual suspects are busy penning letters as I speak to the heads of the various bodies adding their weight to a COMPETITION, to explain a situation they already know about.

If I was setting up a competition and deciding who could or could not enter, then I suspect too, that I would be allowed to decide who could, and could not, be allowed to be in it.

Now in this great democracy in which we live, if I want to change an Act of Parliament, it is methinks a slightly more complicated process!!

marshman, in an earlier post, you mentioned photography competitions. Well, here's how a responsible organisation deals with fake entries.

Well done to Holkham.

A matter of convenience that the Broads didn't win? Just a thought but I suspect letters by 'disgruntled of Cantley' or wherever would already have been on the way to The Times, Private Eye and Pravda by now!
