Which figure are you talking about? The 1% increase or the 13.2% increase?

One of the arguments used for the huge increases this season, the totally imbalanced distribution of tolls costs, and the reduction in the multiplier for the hire yards, was the fear that the hire fleets would decline. Did I read that it would be in the order of -20 vessels.

I'm sure we are all relieved to learn that, far from declining, the hire fleet has actually increased by 13 vessels. Ching, ching.

Maybe the policy was a success then!
Rather than 20 boats down there were 13 extra. Hire yards must be investing in boats rather than withdrawing them. A nominal extra 33 boats on the water with all the extra cash that brought to the area.
The BA fulfilling one of it's core responsibilities, ie promoting tourism? Evil Grin

Harlequin, you're a businessman. Are you really trying to expect us to believe that the hire yards made the decision to make such a heavy investment in a matter of weeks, having waited to see if the multiplier was going to be reduced. Those extra boats had been in build for months, as well the BA, and particularly those members with a financial interest in the hire business, knew all along.

Sorry have I missed something. I can see 1%, 2.9% and 3.2% but not a sight of 13.2%. It was the example of posible tolls on the sheets I was refering to. these percentages do seem low after this years increase.

The report to the NavCom details a number of options for spending more money, each of which would add to the percentage increase above the base of 1%. Scroll down the report to para 5.6.3. and you'll see a graph depicting each increase. If all the options are agreed, the increase will be 13.2%.
