This is hardly 'More trouble for the BA'. The couple were wrong in the first place then the BA were wrong and now the couple have what they want. Lessons learned all round I would say and as the BA quite rightly say the ruling will form part of their future advice on retrospective planning.

Planning rules whether we like them or loathe them are there and should always be considered when doing stuff like this. I do they feel the couple have minimal complaints here!

I agree with that Simondo.
The couple chanced their arm and ultimately won. Even if it did cost them some cash to do so they are now free to go ahead with their original plan.
I personally can see no issue with their seemingly well designed and built building, or the purpose that it serves. However, they must have known that they were taking a risk so should not complain that they had to stand their ground and challenge the original decision. Given that appeals for applicants are free it should not really have been too much cash anyway.
We have to respect planning systems even when they really suck if they are the current law. Instead we should be agitating for the wholesale liberalisation of such outdated rules.
