That's not correct about tolls =

http://www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/visiting/placestogo/explorewindermere/thingstodowindermere/windermerereg

No tolls in the lakes for non powered, so why a charge here?

I agree that the water and wetlands make the area special. That is why it is RAMSAR SSSI and has 25% of rare species, but this is all because of the water. With the Broads having water and navigation which can not comply with Sandford, how can it be a National Park and comply with Sandford?

Brian. I don't know anywhere near enough about the Lea Valley situation to comment, but given your equivalent status as a Victor Meldrew, shall we just say that each situation should be judged individually, and stick to the Broads on here?
TT. Appreciated, but could you tell me, why when the former chairman says he doesn't think it will attract more visitors to the broads everyone listens and thinks it must be true, but when he says there will definitely be no talk of becoming a national park for many years to come, no one wants to hear that, he must be lying and there's a conspiracy to turn the broads into a canoe haven and get rid of motor boats to save the swallowtail. I'm exaggerating of course but you get my point. Either he is credible or he isn't?

Because I assume (dangerous I know) that they have done their research and that is the result they were given.

OldElf, Don't be distracted by Victor Meldrew that's not a status just a case of some of us not taking ourselves to seriously, something that goes way back before you joined the forum and has no relevance to any discussion.

As far as the Lea Valley is concerned if you care to check you will see that it has far more relevance than the Lake District which is constantly mentioned or any other National Park.

TT that is true but doesn't explain why his other statement falls on deaf ears. Doesn't make sense to me why one minute he is credible and the next.... not so much.
Brian, I can assure you that while my title on here says learning the ropes, I originally joined this forum many years ago.
I'll take 8 to account what you say though and look into the situation there when I get a chance. Thanks.

Well personally for me it was the timing, he knew he was leaving, it was really his last major interview if he was ever going to tell the absolute truth, that was the time. Other than that, what did he have to gain by stating something that was not helpfull to the cause?

Be careful what you wish for.
This couple are contesting the rebrand because the BA have said "We want to be called a National Park. So we will abandon our ambition to be a REAL one if we can call ourselves one"
They are conservationists who want full status, Sandford and the rest of it. Their petition basically says the BA have turned their back on conservation with the rebrand.
