This was the result of a Travelodge survey and how many Travelodges are there in the Broads area - precisely none.

Yes, but are they in the Broads area - I don't think so, so what has it got to do with the BA, I ask myself?

I am fully aware of the need to promote and market holidays in the area, but my point is why link to a survey by Travelodge, which is pretty irrelevant to Broads tourism, and suggest that somehow it is connected to anything the BA might or might not be doing?

The logic escapes me, so I'll just move on  Confused

Agree with Paladine's last point on this one.

That aside the Broads is largely seen as a boating resort which is a great shame, it isn't just a 'magic waterland'. It is also perfect for ramblers, cyclists, birdwatchers, campers, caravaners, anglers and numerous other activities. Norfolk needs ONE agency to promote Norfolk, not just the Broads and boats.

The survey has no specific relevance; it merely illustrates the scale of the problem in this part of the country that the BA, among other agencies, has to contend with.

That's all.

Paul

Many holiday boaters who travel a fair distance often travel down the night before the hire boat holiday starts, booking in at a B & B or travel lodge. This has often been mentioned on this forum, and we have indeed done this ourselves in the past, as have other members of the family.

Fully agree with Peter that the area is "also perfect for ramblers, cyclists, birdwatchers, campers, caravaners, anglers and numerous other activities", and that ALL of these attractions need to be promoted, probably being best served by one agency.

Caravan and Camping seems to have opened the door to affordable family holidays these days and the broads don't offer what the Norfolk coastline does in terms of seasonal capacity - a tent pitched by the river would be pleasant enough yet very limited on the broads .....missed opportunity springs to mind ??
