Is anyone aware of planning enforcement being given to Jenners basin (opposite the Town House) at the western end of Thorpe Island near Norwich by the Broads Authority?

There was one last year as far as I remember, but I don't know if there's another one in force.

Bit hard to find enforcement information on this old mooring site. It begs the question why are the BA doing this? Confused

Is the answer not in the document to which you provided a link, viz. "Berth holders advised of breach.
Site inspection 21 October 2011 shows vessels in basin and unauthorised works and structures on land."

Why are the boats illegally moored? What actually is the unauthorised use of the land?

Hasn't this place been used continually as part of Jenner's and Ward's boatyards? Later this land was owned by Richardson's Group.
What justifies these 'public servants' actions, spending a shed load of public funds of the Authority!

The government is also encouraging enterprise! Isn't the whole history of the Broads linked with commercial activity!!!

How would anybody who owns a bit of land, like a similar thing happening to them? That's what seems to going on since the BA took over planning! Look at the evidence....

You clearly have an agenda here. There seems to be little point in discussing a situation which appears to involve interpretation of the law. The correct method of making a challenge is through the courts, not trying to stir the **** on the forum. The BA has had the benefit of counsel's advice before taking this action.

I happen to own my house and the land on which it stands, but if I undertook some development of it without the required planning consent, I could hardly cry about it if I got jumped on by the planning authority.

Perhaps you see this as Norfolk's answer to Dale Farm...and look what happened there.

No hidden agenda.

I understand breaches of planning, but I fail to see why a marina which has always been in use has breached planning regulations by having boats afloat in it?

Dale Farm?

Sounds like you have inside information - willing to share?

I'm aware of this, Rivergoose as I live on Thorpe Island.

The BA seem to have their own agenda of this one.  It seems to be to try to force the island to be deserted by boats and people, in an attempt to somehow appease the nimby locals who harbour misguided views about the island and its boatowners and residents.

As for the scare stories about a new 'Dale Farm', well the easiest way to facilitate that would be to force the Jenners basin to be abandoned.  With bridge and water access and no-one there to manage it, it could potentially be a nightmare scenario.  Welcome to hell island!

Insert cr*p joke here

RG. I can't get the link to work so am assuming it
may have something to do with people using it for
live-aboards? Don't take offence if not, but that
seems to be the on going thing at Thorpe at the
moment. If no planning permission was given for it's
use when Jenners etc were using it, then it stands
to reason why the BA are now on the case. Someone
has made a complaint and now it's been followed up.
Is this it?

Very Soon Now the nights will start to draw out again!
Bring it on!!

There are some nasty square brackets in the link, I can't seem to get rid of. Copy and paste the orginial link (including the ".pdf") and put it in the address bar on your browser.

Edited to try to make the nasty square brackets passive.

Now works. Simply click on the report link below
