hi all
"Officials overseeing the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads are planning to bid for World Heritage Status.

The area is already a National Park and Britain's largest protected wetland.

It is hoped World Heritage Status will promote the site internationally while encouraging the highest quality of standards for tourism and conservation. "

Hi Steve and Vicky

So even Aunite Beeb are getting wrong? Unfortuntely there seems no 'comment on this article' button to do just that.

"There are 15 members in the UK National Park family:
10 in England - The Broads, Dartmoor, Exmoor, the Lake District, the New Forest, Northumberland, the North York Moors, the Peak District, the South Downs and the Yorkshire Dales.
2 in Scotland - Cairngorms and Loch Lomond and the Trossachs.
3 in Wales – the Brecon Beacons, Pembrokeshire Coast and Snowdonia.
"

This was taken from the National Parks website, at http://www.nationalparks.gov.uk/learningabout/whatisanationalpark.htm#wherearethenationalparks

It would appear that even the stalwarts like Dartmoor and Exmoor are now "members of the National Parks family"

Confusing eh ?  Smile

Go to the bottom of the Beeb's page and it tells you how to contact them and make suitable comment, as a number of us have already done! More the merrier!!

ITV have got in on the act now. An article about this World Heritage stuff in the Anglia Tonight 6 oclock news contained the words;

"... they (the Broads) are already a National Park..."

I'm calm Charlie Playful Wink

I've already fired off two emails to them and tried ringing the program before it finished.

Could say its the "old boys network" in that the communications manager at BA used to be at Anglia. Coincidence? I'll find out and let ya know.

This could be really good news. It would give The Broads much greater protection. Let us face it if some of the old hire cruisers were on the roads they would be banned on emmisions alone and then they are sold on into the private market!!. The type of tourism on the northern rivers is not sustainable and not desirable. To protect the Broads there should be a cap now on the number of all powered boats and all moorings declared quiet areas. I know many will not share this view but it is needed to restore the area to one where people may enjoy a holiday in a unique area appreciating the nature and calm. Let the stag and Hen nights go to Ibiza, many families feel theatened by their behaviour.

Careful boys - it will be hypertension pill time soon if
you are not careful. Me? I will just go out and worry

Interestingly I e-mailed Clare, actually quite nice, today. Inevitably my message was in respect to the constant spin regurgitated ad nauseum by the BA in regard to N.P's.

Within a few hours I had a reply, slightly waspish I thought. If Clare had not signed it I would have sworn blind that it had been written by the thin controller himself. Certainly in his style.
