Hi The Jim Shead website now includes registration information of Broads registered boats. I seem to think Craig said this information was not available previously from the BA. Now under the FOI it has shared the information with Jim Shead. I think I would have appreciated being informed by the BA just what information of mine they would share under FOI. No names and addresses but date last licensed is included. Links Jim Shead Home Page Boat Listing FOI Information Jim Shead Boat List A to Z Jim Shead Search Page

Pardon what information? That supplied by owners is covered by the Data Protection Act and cannot be passed to any third party without the specific written approval of the registered ower.

Freedom of Information Act apparently allows them to pass on non-personal info. I'm quite pleased really; looks like I've got 2 boats, one registered in previous name on Inland Waterways and one on The Broads with new name - Anyone like to buy spare boat?

I'm with Bill really - it's quite amazing what the great and the good determine as "in the public domain". I happen to live in a listed house and apparently the great unwashed need to know - in minute detail - what my ceiling is like, what the walls look like, the state of my attic, how walls / timbers have been added or "defaced" and to add insult to injury, they publish a photograph of the house (together with the full address mind you) on the damned internet. All that's lacking is a appointments diary for every thief in the land!!! Is nothing private these days?

It is actually an object lesson in how inaccurate most databases are. And a cautionary tale about basing actions on computer based advice. I checked the data on one of our boats and it was far from accurate. Phil

Well fancy that!! 'B.A' as it turns out:- Was built by Star Supreme and not Jack Powles In the year '0' which now makes her 2009 years old!! She has shrunk by 9 inches in length Her superstructure is now white and not varnish Oh and she was not tolled/registered until 17th of May 09 All news to me of course Griff

Griff I'd keep quiet about the shrinkage if the BA thinks that it's a chunk off your tolls

Why anyone would want to waste their time producing such a pointless list is beyond me. Nigel
