Today, I received an invitation, as I suppose all toll payers did, to join the Navcom in the interests of allowing all the boating public a voice. It goes on to speak of 'interviews' to select a member from those offering to serve. Six meetings a year. Peter has resigned for very good reasons, as we know, so we are not unaware of what is going on, A new input is needed. Can we 'sponsor' a couple of members? These folk could go forward with their own proven interest and commitment but with also a list of 'nominations' from 'us lot what live too far away'. I would happily write in and nominate any of these folk. Gary? Griff? Mike? Nigel? Carol? Paul? Apologies for double post but on reflection,I thought a new thread was appropriate.

I'd love to try and make a difference and enhance navigation BUT . . . . 1) I live 161 miles away (from Stalham anyway) 2) I'm probably too narrow minded and would only vote FOR:- the waterways/rights of navigation/Local jobs/wildlife . . . . in that order 3) Am I really qualified? 4) I would probably end up like JM and be as frustrated as hell - Griff

I know you're not 'officially' a local, but sometimes it would be hard to prove it! 2. Sounds just right to me! 3. YES!! 4. Good point, but we probably need a 'relay team'! Actually two or more who understand boaters' needs and concerns, therefore are likely to be linked to this forum or one of the others.

Pauline, Would love to BUT!! I am one of the few who use the rivers but I am NOT a toll payer. The boats I take to the rivers in, the tolls are paid but not by myself. With Regard to Griff's points. 1. I live about 200 yards from the nearest river. This is probably too far for the BA's liking. 2. Yep, agree with that order, followed by anglers. Wakeboarders wouldnt get a look in on my list. 3. It would definitely broaden my qualifications. 4. JM wouldnt be as frustrated as I would be. 5. I would require a fully paid tax free vehicle that I could also use in my spare time and charge ALL fuel to the BA. If, as a non toll payer, I am still allowed onto the NAVCOM I would consider it.
