Its our first time in a big boat this weekend, and have a question with regards to mooring.

We are planning to visit Wroxham, our hire craft will not fit under the bridge, so need to moor This side of the bridge.

Its a Horizon Craft. Can we moor at other yards for a fee ?

Or is it strictly " You cant moor here as its not ours " approach.

Hi Brian,

Just before the bridge on the left hand side is Moores, You can moor there (away from the pump out and fuel pump. Costs I think a fiver. If not try Steves yard at fineway he is usually ok especially as your a customer of his.

Dave

P.S. what boat are you on.

You could also try Summercraft or Royalls, both with Hoseasons. Just a few mins walk into Wroxham.

By long term agreement both associations have a mutual agreement that their yards will moor not only fellow members boats but also those of the other association for free.  I'm sure that Sumercraft will be happy to greet you likewise Brinks who probably have more space.  To be sure a phonecall in advance is a good idea.  The one time this will not work is friday nights when they are clearing the decks for turn-rounds.

Private marinas are another matter as they may well have visitors booked in in advance or bertholders who might return at any time including after dark if they have Nav. lights

Many thanks for your replies, Its a great weight off my mind, knowing this, as i was not sure about mooring at other yards.
I was in the thinking that is was a No Go area.

Ill take down all the phone numbers and get a few calls in ahead to make sure.

Faircraft are fine as well we have moored in there when on a hoseasons boat. Just be careful if the tour boats are coming in and out.

hi all ,
just picking up on trevors point , remember that if you are on a hireboat , be it blakes / hoseasons / independant , you can moor your boat there , BUT !!! remember that hireyards do ask you  NOT  to moor there from Friday pm till Saturday evening as boats are expected back for change over ,
cheers

Hi Brian,

Another idea would be to moor outside the Wroxham Hotel if you plan to eat there. If you telephone them, they will reserve a space for you. There is no charge and it is right next to the bridge so good views.

Ive always wanted to moor outside the Wroxham Hotel.

Not sure if its a good idea this weekend though, as it will be our first time out in a large Cruiser, and with the amount of people watching from the bridge, the hotel, the Pizza restaurant, I'm not sure if i can take the heat if it all goes wrong when mooring up.

Ill add their number to my list though as we might be feeling confident by Sunday Smile
