"We are delighted to share that as of today Stalham Staithe is our newest 24-hour free mooring in the Broads network.
Following much-needed repairs to the crumbling parts of the Staithe in 2018, it has undergone a full refurbishment thanks to a collaborative project between the Broads Authority, Norfolk County Council and Stalham Town Council.
The work created a new footpath, mooring posts, safety ladders, plus additional safety features necessary for the site to operate as a Broads Authority 24-hour mooring location.
This small mooring has space for approximately 6 vessels and is a 5-minute walk from the town centre’s shops, pub and other amenities.
From today our full bylaws will apply to the Staithe and we will initiate measures to address overstaying, and other safety issues which are of concern to local residents.

How many times have we heard that the B.A are going to take steps to ensure that nobody overstay's on a mooring. The only steps they seem to take are very large ones in the opposite direction. I will believe the evidence of my own eyes and I am not holding my breath. Incidently the aged nutty woman who owns two of the boats on the Staithe, also owns a boat at Broadsedge!!! so I am led to believe!!

As an aside - have those paddleboarders in steves pic been asked to pay a toll towards the navigation that they so freely use?! That very navigation that us private boat owners exclusively paid tolls for promptly this April so that the BA had funds to keep said navigation open?
The same navigation that countless holidaymakers regularly stick blow up inflatable pool type dinghies or donut rings on, again with most if not all ever paying or even being challenged for a visitors toll?
I'll always happily pay my way, but I ain't happy about those who get a free, or delayed credit ride

Edit to add I do know that there is an annual CRT type of national thing which extends to the Broads. As in for a proper canoe/regular canoeist, not a silly holiday fun purchase from a beach shop.

That looks like a great job, thanks BA. At least the grass which hid dog's mess and got spread all over the boat by the Grass Monster has gone.
Now lets hope BA polices the 24 hour mooring policy. Whilst I have no problems with people living on boats, paying their licence fees and basic insurance using the moorings for the prescribed times and visiting for shopping etc. they must realise that there are other people in this World who do pay their way and indirectly subsidise unproductive people through their taxes and Council Tax. After all, non productive people still use our Council and health services but do not pay for them.

I do agree with you. I am not sure if a paddle board is classed as a canoe but proper canoe enthusiast can get a blanket cover licence if they for a very reasonable price covers them for all waterways if they join the British Canoe Union.
Perhaps paddle boarders should look up what a dose of Weils Disease (Leptospirosis) can do to you. Not nice and not easily got rid of.
