Hello all. Can anyone give me some information on Broadsedge marina please? Is there any security as I will often be leaving my boat for weeks due to the distance from me? What facilities are there? Toilets/showers? What about winter storage ashore? Also I noticed in photographs, there are no paths, does the grass get very muddy in the winter? Basically I'm looking for a good base for my boat when I move it to the Broads next spring. I live in Northamptonshire, and won't be down at the boat every week. Sometimes I might not be able to get down for 3 or 4 weeks. I like the look of St Olaves marina as it has good security, but would prefer to be on the Northern rivers. Is there anywhere that is secure, has facilities and isn't massively expensive? My boat is a JG Meakes Madeira, 27ft (8.2M). I don't want to pay more than £1500 a year for a mooring.

With a top line budget of £1500 for a 27ft boat the world on the northern side is very nearly your oyster as it were. The Wet-shed at Richo's Stalham will come in at under £1300 for you there. Security - well your boat is undercover for one and therefore out of view of the public. Car parking is not muddy it is on crusher run lit at night with 24 x Hr cctv on said car park, the main gate to Richo's is locked at night, as berth holders we have the combination for the lock on the gate. Access into the shed via pedestrian door which is always locked, key issued to berth holders only. Inside the shed there are 3 x further 24 x Hr cctv cameras, lighting, power and fresh water. Richo's yard have a shower/toilet block which is locked at the end of the working day, as a berth holder you would be issued with a key for said block. The only fly in t ointment though is that I have a suspicion that they prefer bigger boats in there thereby increasing their revenue, (Understandable) but this is only a suspicion as there are some 30 odd footers and smaller in ther right now and I would have thought that a 27 x footer is better renting a berth than no boat at all. Hope this helps, Griff

The good thing about history is the fact that you can recall whats already happened before even when its repeating itself Finny

I presume you mean this has been discussed before? I did a search before posting and found a few threads about Broadsedge, but none answering my questions above. Unlike many of you, I'm not a regular, and hadn't see the previous discussions before. Off to get my coat....
