Hi there, new on the forum but not a new boat on the broads.thought I'd give you a bit of my background too so, here goes;

Thought I'd introduce myself as you have probably seen myself and my boat around, you may even have met me in the pub, thought I would post and just say hi. HI. If you fancy a chat or a look at a different kinda life style, stop by, mines the pretty Colvic 20 with the portholes and bike on the deck. I'm having a second attempt at early retirement.... First attempt ( ex military bomb tech- Medically discharged after 24 years)  lasted a few years till( a year at sea round Anglesey hence my home port being Beaumaris) I came to the broads having been based near here and liked them and a lot easier on the old spinal injury than being in rough seas.... But after a bit  I got bored so got a job with a local landowner.... This 2nd attempt at retirement however has got to work, as my doctor informed me that I will have to stop working if I wish to postpone the inevitable decline of my spine resulting in being wheel chair bound, actually he said " You will end you're life in a wheel chair watching the world go by, drooling" it was the drooling that got me!!!!! So I jacked in the job and now trying to live quietly ( pension from military,  nothing to do with social services in any shape or form) and peacefully in the beautiful landscape of the broads. So far I have not been bored as my neglect of my boat for the last 5 years ( due to the job) has got to be remedied and the various hire boats bumping into me has also resulted in some pretty hefty repairs! I now, unless I absolutely have to go there, avoid BA moorings or any other place that can attract lots of hire boats. So if you see me about give me a toot or stop by for a coffee, you may have to supply you own mugs! Be seeing you about..... Enjoy the scenery and the tranquility! ;-)

Hi, Stick, and another welcome to the Forum  Smile

Your health comes first ... so make sure the second attempt at retirement works, and enjoy it. Hope to see you out and about sometime.

Cheers  Steve.

Thanks for all your replies and welcomes.... Will answer you all.... kinda, born in scouse land lived in n Wales Mold/Mynydd Isa till military then everywhere in the world! Moorings, well I like to be alone a lot and after a spell in a permanent mooring I just couldn't do it anymore, too close together plus as a 20 footer I seem to be charged as a minimum of 25ft! I live on a military pension and to be completely truthful I'm a bit people shy, I feel uncomfortable in crowds and lots of people or even in busy pubs!!! But don't worry, my therapist is councilling me on this! So mooring wise I'm one of those despised gypsy boats that you've read about.... Only I'm not a gypsy I'm an Ex military retiree!! And despite what you have read to the contrary, most of the landowners round here know me or of me ( Thanks to the last job) and I have their permission to be temporarily moored on their land. Broads auth also know me. I tidy up wherever I go.... Like to be an asset rather than a blight if you get my drift! Is that a pun with drift? As in boat drift? Dunno!

Anyway, if you see me around give me a toot an if you need a tow or a hand and if no one else can help and if you can find me, ( shades of the A-team) give me a shout!

Pleasant sailing to you all.

Is yours the cream coloured one I've seen around the Bure area lately? If it is it's a very nice job!

Regards, Ray.

Whatever happens now, I'm blaming it on Brexit. Everyone else is!
