Finally booked for the broads after much discussion with hubby and two teenagers. Will be coming down at the end of June for a week of boating. Hubby has never been before but I remember a fantastic family holiday back in the late seventies with aunties, uncles and cousins. (I think I am trying to relive my teenager years).
Anyway, will probably be back asking for suggestions to help us plan our holiday this time, but for now I am returning to youtube to watch all the great videos and pick up some tips from there.
Only in my humble opinion the top three tips I can offer are
1. Don't try and plan too much . Much of the fun comes from just messing about rather than charging down the rivers getting from place a to b just because four months ago it looked a good idea around the dining room table.
2. Remember that motor boats don't steer in reverse so take mooring stern on slowly and use forward gear with the rudder over to align yourself into your chosen spot.
3. Take any opportunity to top up with water . It is amazing how quickly you go through it particularly if teenagers are using the showers.
