Tried to join this forum weeks ago, but never received a password & could not see a way to leave a message without being logged on!  Vicious circle scenario.  However just got an email about the outage & decided that your system must have me registered somewhere, so told the site I had lost my password & hey presto!  It has just let me in, so thought I might as well say "hello".  However the reason for joining weeks ago now elludes me! There was a post at the time that I felt I could contribute to as I had been on the Broads late September, first time for over 20 years.  Things had changed such a lot.  Not exactly going to be a regular on here, but it seemed bad manners not to at least say "Hi!".

If it's bad manners not to then I had better say 'hi' also!

Hi, and welcome.

Welcome from me also.

You username, not anything to do with a proper nice Broom Woody per chance?

Used to be on the Broads regularly in 1970s & 80s with a pile of friends & relations (record was 24 of us spread over 3 cruisers & a yacht).  We were not a rowdy drunken gang by the way - just boat enthusiastss, nature lovers & photographers.  We often hired Admiral IV from Broom's.  Best boat on the water!!  Was very disappointed (although not surprised) to see virtually no woodies on this recent trip.  Very few stylish boats in evidence at all!  Did encounter a very smart Broom's ex hire "Skipper" in private hands & had an interesting & nostalgic conversation with the now owner.  Not a woody (he had decided the maintenance would be too much) but very stylish!

My last real boat experience was in 1989 on Herbert Wood's "Western Light".

Most glorious sight this year were the beaut wooden yachts moored in Hunter's yard up Womack.

Hi, welcome from the site Idiot (well, one of them),

You will probably find, as I did, that you will soon be checking on here regularly, then posting, and finally not being able to live without a weekly dose of Forumnia Madhousernalium.  Smile

Regards, Ray.

If it's neither here, nor there, then where is it?

Hi Admiral IV, the stylish woodies are all hiding in Richardson's Wetshed. Playful  Or moored at a pub...

Once we were Rondonay, now we

Admiral IV, Those Broom Admirals are to proper drool over imho.  Admiral VII was my personal favourite, she was up for sale recently but way out of my price bracket.  If I'm honest a blow up dinghy is too right now  Frown

Still can't complain, as I have this one to keep me busy, and has been said she is hiding in a wet-shed right now but will be alongside a riverside Pub in just over a week or so with me onboard. Well nearly alongside a riverside pub as I think it will be the Dog Inn close to Ludham Bridge  Smile
