I moored at the Bridge Inn moorings for the first time this year, the tidal rise and fall isnt too bad I would reckon to allow for about a foot (or 30cm if the tide is metric)

Now the world has gone to bed, but darkness won't engulf my head,
'cos I can see by infra-red, Oh how I hate the night.

Welcome aboard Gary

The Bridge Inn is an excellent choice very good food and beer.

The rise and fall isn't too bad there about 12" to 18" inches.  The current is fairly strong so make sure you are running against the tide when mooring.

Welcome Gary - we echo what Sharon and Tony said (congratulations btw) - if you print out your forum logo (see bottom of page) and stick it in your boat window you shouldn't get charged for o/night mooring either.

Hi Gary and welcome Smile

Dazzling Light looks lovely and the price you have paid stunning value!

As for mooring at Acle  I’ve never really thought too much about it (as in worried) sure there is a rise and fall which is more noticeable there than say in Wroxham, but it is not drastic and so I tend to leave a good bit of slack in the ropes and been fine.

What can be more tricky is the current and wind combination, in my experience this seems to be more prevalent on the ‘Bridge Craft and Horizon Craft’ side of the bridge.  I think the Bridge Inn public house tends to offer some shelter that side of the bridge as far as wind goes – but that could just be my perception of matters.

If you want a good drink or two and lovely food the Bridge Inn is a great stop – busy, but adds to the atmosphere so I always book a table 01493 750 288 is their number.  Mooring are free if you are a member of this forum – If not, your mooring fee is refundable if you eat there – just take your payment receipt in with you (£4.00) and they take this off the cost of your food.

I’ve moored outside Bridge Craft, or inside Horizon Craft boatyards before – free.  I’ve also moored on the grass along from Horizon Craft (I believe £7.00 overnight fee) but left before the chap came round to collect the money the next morning.

So all in all plenty of options as far as mooring, a nice pub and if you felt like it you can moor up walk into Acle and get the train to say Yarmouth or even Norwich a day out.

Have a great time.

Good choice for a meal Gary!  The ribs are fabulous (if a little too much food for me) and Keith enjoyed his Ploughmans.

"If the tide is metric"...errm...is this a natural phenomenon? So are there certain tides that are metric, say they have brushed a French shore, did we have Imperial tides for the Jubilee and Royal wedding? Playful

Hello all and hi again London Rascal,
I see a couple of mentions of free overnight mooring at The Bridge Acle for Forum members displaying a logo.  Please advise- What sort of size logo is it normal to have on display. Do you display the round one or the rectangular one and is there any other moorings free for Forum members and if so is their normally a sign indicating this concession.
Thanks in anticipation

Kind Regards
Alan...

Well normally you would click the link 'make my logo' at the bottom of the page, but since the forum was hacked it hasnt been working
Richard has promised to get it sorted when he gets time.
