Hello Sam,

Welcome to the forum.

As the other posters say anything to do with boats is more costly than anything else, use camping/caravan suppliers for preference, check out for lowest costs, a lot of Marine Suppliers are now offering services on Ebay.

With regards to most of the toilets used on boats you can get the service kits, same goes for diesel heating a service kit will cost about £25.00 to £30.00.

Hi Sam and welcome
Few are able to buy a new boat, most of us have a boat between 20 and 40+ years old. Now if we were to buy a car in that age range we would expect to be repairng and replacing most things on an ongoing basis, with the associated costs involved in classic cars.
Always get a survey done on a boat before purchase, it can save a fortune in the long run. ( no, i don't survey boats, just property  Smile )

Some days all I need is to have a
beer and be afloat.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

We have recently discovered Ebay for chandlery and using caravan bits, but we learnt it the hard way (only discovering it once we had thought of it).

Looking back on the few years we have had the boat I am surprised to how much there was to “learn” as it were.

Regards, Sam
