Hello everyone,

We are in the process of buying a cruiser after years (waaaay too many to contemplate) of renting for one or two weeks per summer (and even Easter Brrrr). We have been lurking for a long time, gathering information from everyone else's questions and all the brilliant advice from the forum regulars. So a big TY to everyone and when you see us on the river later this year hopefully, please honk/ wave or otherwise let us know who we are being honked by and we will shout scream wave etc and set a time and place for drinkies...
When we finalise the boat we will of course let everyone know the name / new name and let the fun commence.

Once again TY for a brilliant forum and the immense fun we have had lurking and the kindness shown on here persuaded us to plunge so thanks ...

Martin and Fiona.

Hi Martin and Fiona and welcome to the forum. May I wish you good luck with your new venture. It's a dream of mine to one day own my own boat but everytime I nearly get there something else turns up which needs my hard earnt cash. So I'll just carry on doing the lottery and praying. Don't forget to post some piccies of your new boat when you get it (just to make me jealous LOL)

all the best

Hiya to the both of you, and you're very welcome to the site and of course to all the banter and advice that you've obviously gleaned before the purchase of your boat. As you've said, let us know what, name, etc you get, and we'll
definately shout and wave etc.

Good luck to you both

Hi both,

When you know what you're doing, add your dates to the Holiday Calendar?  We're (I'm) feeling quite lonely in November and December with no other postings at present and would love someone to shout and wave at, not to mention a nice drink together in a warm pub with a good fire...

Thank you for the lovely messages, I'm sure some of you may have met us already but don't realise, like I said we lurked for ages. We had a lovely ten days on Fair Empress 2 in early August and met quite a few owner drivers (forgive the trucking reference)
For a little bit of info we are going for a woodie as we like the heritage look and will be in the area this Saturday looking at some beautiful examples.

BA / Princess Zena are lovely examples for us to try and follow. Huge ask but if you don't try???

Regards

M

Dear All,

Plunge well and truly taken, we have decided on a lovely boat that has been lovingly cared for. Inspections and negotiations to follow but basically we have decided. The current custodian of the lady in question is a fine gentleman that has really loved his boat. I only hope we can begin to give her the same attention and learn something from his example. Out of respect for him we will not make this public until the necessary things have been done but we are really happy and I hope he is too.

Once again thanks to all forum regulars for their vicarious advice.

Finally yes I do know what having a wooden boat means and we think we are prepared (famous last words).

If everything goes to plan we will be on river the first week in November for an autumn cruise involving warm clothing and frequent stops for extensive quality testing of various types of fermented beverage.

First cruise will not involve the three four legged members of the crew however it will involve all teen (x2)and pre teen (x1) crew members.

Haven't worked out how many hours it is yet until we cast off, but I am sure at some point I will do so.

Smile

Well done to you two and congratulations.

Can't you give us a tiny clue?

At least tell us where you intend keeping her.

Have you ordered your NBF flag yet?

Dear Griff,

OK here goes:

It's not Snow Goose (and we did look)

We want to base her in Stalham

Not yet to the flag (would feel a bit premature)

Deposit is paid! When the residual is paid after the look see, all will be revealed. We lover her already!!

If your boys trip was the first week in November we plan to be there then. Shame..

Although as both better half (and ardent boater) and I have just lost 2.5 st each we are both very cheap dates and would stand no chance in any extended test of the alcoholic beverages available. One beer chit and we would both be on the floor or under the table which ever was more stable at the time.

We look forward to many happy evenings on the water.

Martin
