Hi to all... Not been on the broads for many many years Myself and the wife are hoping for a visit early / middle of October it is going to have to be on a budget as other holiday plans booked to. The 3 boats I’ve narrowed it down to that are available for the dates we are looking at are. 1) Bronze gem 2) Autumn Horizon 3) Concerto Just wonder if any of you good people have have hired these boats And can’t give me any feedback on them or sutible for late cruising Many thanks

If you are on a budget, have you tried the Broads Boating Co in Acle? Used them in May, and were excellent. Boats very well turned out, and their prices include damage waver AND FUEL! Can recommend.

Any boat you hire from Richardsons will be excellent. October is a wonderful month on the Broads - fewer boats around compared with the previous months and the weather is (usually) great too.

Hi! We have been on a Gold Gem and 3 Magic Gems which are identical in layout to Bronze Gem. The bed on the rear cabin is a big awkward to get into cos there's not much room between the headboard and the toilet wall so getting in and out is a pain! Richardsons also include damage waiver and fuel in the final price. They fill the tank before you take the boat over and dip it when you return the boat. You get refunded what you haven't used! In April we had Amber Gem and out of the £125 fuel deposit we got £56 back!
Love from Pegs

Hi there and welcome to the forum, If you click on the "hireboats" link at the bottom of the page, then select any of the boats you are interested in and you will see individual reviews from other forum members who have holidayed on a particular boat. There are often internal photographs too, which can be more useful than those seen in the brochures. Don't forget to leave a review yourself after your holiday, for others. I have heard good things about the Broads Boating Company at Acle so it might be worth at least a look. Good luck with your research and have a great holiday. We also have a section for holiday tales so if you enjoy a bit of writing then we will enjoy reading your story! All the best, Karen

Hi been on all of these boats for many years but have booked concerto for the last few years, good kitchen dining table and good spacey cabin the bedroom is better than the others as you do not feel trapped in by the walls. also you can choose a full sliding roof or top hatch, and you have 240 volt inverter. if you end up going let the site know which boat you decide on and we may see you there as me and the wife may be there fishing. Thanks for the reply John @ Di yes the wife quite liked the look of concerto lay out. Would this be a good boat for mid October? I know some boats are more drafty than others and some heating are better than others

We always take an extra blanket and a hot water bottle for October, just in case. They have come in handy over the years, not least for sitting out of an evening, but we have also had stunning weather at that time of the year. Having said that, last year for the first week in October we were on a narrow boat on the Llangollen canal and it was rather wet..... But Wales is known for that lol , the Broads has its own little micro climate, so fingers crossed you will get a good week. Karen
