Hi not been on the broads for 5 years .This year we going to cruise the south broads .We have 3nights 4 days we start from Brundall any ideas for a cruise intenary for 3 nights and leave boat back at Brundall 4 pm 4th day ?Regards Roy
I would pick the boat up and head for Oulton the 1st night (abt 4 hours) Book a mooring at the Yacht Station prior to going. 2nd day middayish head to Beccles (2.5 hours ish) and moor there overnight, book mooring at Yacht station prior to going. 3rd day leave Beccles mid morning, gentle cruise back towards Brundall, there are several places to stop on the way and aim to get to Rockland Staithe for the last evening. If the Staithe is full there is bank mooring on Fleet Dyke and it is a short walk back to the Staithe.
When are you coming as though the south is less busy than the north and depending on the tide, if it against you I would opt for somewhere nearer for the first night Loddon or Rockland or even Cantley.I got caught badly some years ago and fighting the tide can be tedious noisy and costly in fuel It is a long time since I overnighted at Oulton and wonder if it is noisy being quite near the road and rail bridges?
Oulton is not too noisy, any noise from the main road is blocked by the shops and pub. Other than pushing through Reedham if the tide is in full flood there is no problem. There may be a slight increase in fuel usage but thats a price worth paying IMHO. Tides are a fact of life on the Southern Broads and if you let your holiday be ruled by them to save a little cash then you are going to have a very restricted time,
