Hello, I have booked to go from Wroxam on the Brinks Lullaby with myself, my wife, our 14 year old son and our cockapoo. We do not drink so hitting every pub is not the goal. Having peace and quiet and being able to take the dog on nice quiet walks is the goal. A bit of fishing, maybe. Any thoughts about route going North or South? I understand that no matter what, it will be busy as we are going in peak season. Getting very excited!!! Thanks. David.

Hello again. The south is definitely quieter but as you are starting off at wroxham you will waste up to two days of your holiday travelling along some of the most uninteresting scenery in Norfolk ( in my opinion of course ) . I am referring to the bure between acle and Yarmouth. If you want quiet walks in the north I can suggest the following. Moor at st benets ( where it will be busy ) but follow the circular walk to Ludham and back which will not be. If you can get in at Womack there is a brilliant circular walk around the marshes and the river which starts off at hunters yard. At potter if you moor before the bridge you can walk the weavers way to your hearts content. Have fun Graham A

Hi David To be blunt if the Internet is vital then I wouldn't bother coming. 3G and 4 g is indeed patchy and many of the wifi add Ons offered by the yards are no better. It is particularly true if you want peace and quiet. It is quiet because no one lives there. That means it was never cost effective for any of the companies to put up masts. There are some bits of the broads ( horning) and salhouse comes to mind where you get no signal at all. I have taken someone who needed a signal for work on my boat and he spent the entire time hopping about on one leg trying to Magic a signal from the ether. It is better to assume you will not get any connection and then be pleasantly surprised if you do. Have fun Graham Ps there are lots of places with a good signal but they are quite likely to be places where you don't want to be.

A 3 mifi we have never had any probs with getting a signal, even Salhouse. Horning is a bit hit and miss mainly miss but the rest is ok. South is best for peace and quiet Hardley Mill , pontoon mooring, electric and good walks. £5 for the night. Hardley Cross a lovely quiet mooring good walks. Short Dyke Rockland St Mary good 24 hr moorings, good walks. I could go on.

Still plugging The South. Norwich Mon Tues Wed Thurs stay overnight avoid Fri Sat if possible. Pump out , rubbish disposal, fabulous showers , toilets and a One Stop Shop around the corner. Not Peaceful but convenient. Harbour Master to help you. St Olaves 24hr mooring, good walk to The Priory to see the ruins and the Lammas. Somerleyton , good walks, electric points (if you can get them) rubbish disposal. Again can be busy. Herringfleet but you can only walk towards Somerleyton. Quiet. The Tea Gardens, another good walk towards Oulton Broad. Quiet. If you want peace and quiet, hire from the South or be prepared as has been said to lose 2 days going from North to South if and only if the crossing times at Gt Yarmouth across Breydon are suitable for the time of year.
