Hello
Myself and my wife are thinking of a boating holiday on the Broads but are hesitant regarding the ease or difficulty of mooring a boat.
Both of us suffer from mobility problems - arthritic knees and lower spine, so we are not able to 'jump' off a boat to moor it.
Is there a way that we could simply step off the boat and then moor the lines, rather than having to take a 'leap of faith' and hope we don't end up with an early bath!
Thanks in advance for any help and advice you can offer us.

Dear Dave If you get a bathtub type of boat you can moor up without getting of most of the time and being on one level also helps, try and get one with twin roofs that slide back you can then have the open air without the drafts by sliding the windward side shut and having the other side open John

Thanks for the advice. Excuse my ignorance but, what is a bathtub type boat?
We'll be hiring a boat with bow thrusters and one that has 4 to 6 berths as we like room to move around.

Hi Dave,

If you Click Here it will take you to a Bathtub type boat. .These boats are single floor level I have hired this particular boat several times and it's real luxury plenty of room, split sliding roof, bow thruster, a walk around bed and a good size bath. Nothing to do with calling it a bathtub type boat.  Smile  Not the cheapest but a lovely boat.

These particular boats Swan Roamer, Rapture, and Radiance are owned by Swancraft based in Brundall on The Southern Broads but next year they will be available from Richardson's based in Stalham on The Northern Broads. As has been said the Northern Broads would be the more suitable. If you intend going this year there are plenty of other bathtubs to choose from.

I see from your other post that you intend to hire a boat with more berths. If you go for a boat with more berths you may have more room for storage but not necessarily more living  and sleeping area. The amount of berths is also reflected in the prices. Best have a good look at the floor layout and dimensions. The boats with a walk around bed often have a larger Cabin and much easier to get in and out of bed.

Have a great holiday. Cheers

Kind Regards
Alan...
