Hi All,

We are picking our boat up this Friday 1st August for out first time on the broads, from Herbert Woods.

Our boat is quite large and I was wondering about mooring this time of year.  I am guessing that if you leave it late in the day, then spaces for mooring can be at a premium.  Our plan is to just take it steady and moor up in plenty of time, whether that comes off or not, we will have to see Smile

I was also wondering about water topping up.  Does it almost become like a queue of boats moving along to reach the water hose ?

Looking forward to it and just a week of slowing down..

Hi karlak
Hope you have a great time. Just remember that Saturday is a busy change over day at the boatyards so choose where you are going to get your water carefully if you need to fill up then. Sometimes there is a bit of a queue at some places for water but we've never had a problem getting filled up. You will find the popular moorings busy and will need to get to them early but you will always find somewhere. We are picking our boat up Friday too, from Wroxham. We'll probably see you at some hosepipe along the way. Have a good holiday.

Regards SB.

Hi karlak, don't forget to print off your logo in the make my logo (red stuff at the bottom of the page) and put it in your boat windows. Members can say hi and some moorings are free for members ie at the Bridge Inn Acle.
We are starting off on Friday as well and will be on the North side on Saturday morning, might see you on the rivers.  Smile

There are lots of places to moor but some places are more popular than others and if you go to these places then you need to be there early.
If you would prefer somewhere quiet and away from the crowd then this will not be a problem.
Personally, if I see a crowd of boats then I go somewhere else. My favourite moorings are on a mudweight in the middle of a broad.
If you are flexible and prepared to change plan then you should not have any problem finding a nice mooring.

Enjoy your holiday.

Thanks for all the replies Smile

I do like the idea of Mud weighting, but we have our two dogs with us, so could be a bit impractical if they need to pop out Smile

Been on the north broads since saturday and had no issues either getting moored ir getting water, infact we moored at Wroxham on saturday night.best advice is shop and get enough provisions to last a full 48 hours on board tgen if you cant get moored near food/beer you can go to a quieter mooring instead.
