48hrs to go until we leave for Reedham and a week on Sandmartin. I have not packed a thing, although wife has half the kids room in bags by the look of it. (I will confess that I have sorted some, but not all, my fishing gear out!)

Apart from the obvious - food, clothes, towels, toys, etc etc, is there anything we should be bringing?

Have made note to bring bin bags, cleaning spray, loo roll etc, but am bound to forget something obvious

Thankyou. Can't wait. I have been on a broads holiday before, but it was over 10yrs ago, in october, and cold. It will be interesting, as the wife is 7 months pregnant, and we have a 1yr old and 5yr old in tow. Im sure it will make some boarding / disembarking entertainment!

Hello Sheriff,

Re those toilet rolls make sure that they are at the most very cheap two ply because most marine toilets will not cope with anything thicker and ideally one ply is the best, but can be difficult to obtain.

The frying pan and tin opener was a very good idea and is always part of our boat kit when we hire on the canals, likewise a spatula, wooden spoon and a sharp knife (most knives on boats are no better than spoons)

I wish I was going with you we have to wait until September.

Have a great holiday.

Regards
Alan

Matches, not all boats have automatic ignition. Took a boat over one year and were aiming to head down through Yarmouth and over Breydon. Just after we'd passed Acle, having unpacked everything, it was decided to put the kettle on for a much needed cuppa--no matches!! Stopped at Stokesby, pub and tearoom both shut. Our saviour lived just along by the tearoom. He was walking passed and when he realised our problem, gave us a box of matches. Have never forgot that kindness.
