Hi,  Booked for a week for 2 adults and 1 child from 13 to 20 July.  The boat is Gold Gem 4 from Richardsons at Stalham.  Any pictures or info on the boat, and any advice for 1st time boaters.

Go to the bottom of the page, right hand side and select hire boat info it might have some internal pictures of the boat you've hired.
The best advice I can give is aim the pointy end of the boat and go where it takes you.

and relax you'll love it.

That's a little too open ended. Would you care to be more specific?

I should have added that I collect Ruby Gem 2 the day before (12th) if you see me give us a wave.

And remember that doing that means that you swing the back end in the opposite direction. i.e. boats steer like a fork lift truck, combine harvester, B&Q trolley or car going backwards.

That's important, because too often I see front drive cruisers, like Gold Gem, pass another boat when the helmsman decides he's too close and turns the boat away from the other one. However, the back end of their boat then slams into the side of the boat he's passing.

Moral of the story: Never pass the entrance to Herbert Woods in the afternoon on a changeover day! I learnt the hard way! Smile
