Erindoors and I holidayed on the Broads in 2017 (Classic Gem 1 I think) and are returning in June (Swan Rapture). Coming from New Zealand, being able to keep in touch with family and stuff at home is quite important and we are very dependent upon Wi-Fi. In 2017 it was awfully patchy with none at all at: Sutton Staithe, Ludham Bridge, Ranworth Staithe, Coltishall, Horning, Fleet Dyke, Stalham Boatyard (!) and Gayes Staithe. Fortunnatley some of the pubs had excellent Wi-Fi. Can anyone advise if coverage has improved? Or moorinngs where we may be more likely to get a connection please?
Many thanks.
Chris

Hi there

Not noticeably no. There has been no systematic improvement and it is still very much pot luck.

Some people will tell you that they  get good reception at most places but we have never been able to replicate that.despite using all the big providers over the years.

Even the mobile networks do not deliver what it says on the tin at all places.

If it is important I suggest you plan your trip around pubs, restaurants and hotels where you can use their wi fi.

Have a great time

Graham

Hi Graham and thank you. I did kind of expect that and we do have a number of favourite hostelries around which we plan our routes. Just that the time difference between the two hemispheres limit which pub hours work.

If you need out of hours WiFi, head for Acle Bridge.

It's free, fast and reaches the moorings. Smile

That's obviously Acle Bridge Inn and not anywhere else there.

While moored, don't forget to pop in and have a meal/drink. Smile

I'm pretty certain they don't reserve moorings during the season but drop Phil a line, he maybe able to do something.

Gary.

Hi, when you say wifi, I presume you mean 4G reception. I moved from Vodafone to 3 last year and got good 4G around most of the northen broads. Suggest that when you get here you buy a uk SIM card with unlimited data , that will be a lot cheaper than using your existing one, or as already said, most pubs have wifi nowadays

Wi-Fi is hit and miss just about anywhere on the Broads. Horning is one place I always struggle to get a signal. Just be careful when using public Wi-Fi in a pub or restaurant as they can sometimes tell what you are looking at e.g. don't look at anything personal.
