I had a tablet for Christmas ?? and it is ok but the sound is abysmal.  You can barely hear it.  Yes I have turned up the sound etc.   Short of chucking it out of the window any suggestions.

What make/model is it? Some are better than others. Do you use it with the built-in speakers, or with headphones?

I have to be careful here as a prezzie,  .other half bought it from the Daily Mail Shop,  it is pretty pathetic,  but was about £129.

To be honest I cannot even see a name.

As Paladine says, try headphones in it if you haven't already.

My laptop, when playing through the speakers, is sh** sorry I mean not very good, however, plug in a set of cheap mobile phone ear phones and the sound is terrific.

Or as an alternative if you don't like headphones there are some pretty good bluetooth speakers around for a few squid

Hylander, I know you said you've turned up the sound, but was that just using the external buttons? If you go into the Settings, you may be able to increase the volume level for individual events, such as notifications etc. You may be lucky and find there's a sound volume setting you can increase. Your device may have a volume limiter which is set as 'On' by default. If it has, switch the limiter to 'Off'.

An external speaker may be what you need. Something like this (I'm not recommending it, it's just one that came up from a search for 'tablet speaker with 3.5mm jack').
