Thanks for all the replies. I cannot identify which phone it is as the only marking is Nokia. I have a feeling it is one of those models sold in the stone age. It does not do the internet or take pictures etc and I cant find any information regarding problems anywhere.
The thing is that the numbers I found were outgoing calls and apparently were dialled. Everybody I phone or text are in my phone book and would come up with the name accordingly. It has not happened since I cleared the outgoing call register.
It is such a handy neat little phone and I am loathe to scrap it. I don't need any of the apps that are becoming so addictive to everybody I see around me. All I need is contact with friends and family and for emergencies. Unfortunately if this problem keeps happening I will have to scrap it.

We have a couple of these Nokia phones. Just phones no internet, no emails, the odd message. I bet loads of us have them in cupboards and drawers. When they first came out we thought they were the bees knees.

I too use a very basic mobile phone. There is no email set up. I Don't use it for the internet. All I use is the telephone, texts and camera.
I don't feel that "My world has ended" if the battery goes flat or if I go out without it. I'm also free from that addiction of constantly checking some "social media" site every few minutes.
I've had my Nokia several years - in fact when the original one finally fell to pieces through use, I roamed through a certain auction site and bought a used identical model to replace it.
Stick with your basic phone Mr Potter, don't scrap it! These older phones are not as sophisticated as the newer "smart" phones and less susceptible to hacking. If you have no internet, then internet based viruses and malware should not be a problem.
Re "your problem numbers" - Just something to check. I seem to vaguely remember that there was the option to "automatically" answer on certain hand-held models when they rang. I think that was when an earphone and microphone could be plugged in.
I had automatic answering on my "Fixed Permanently In The Car" mobile phone many years ago. The phone would ring (I believe 3 times) and then the call would be answered and I could speak and listen via the mike and loudspeaker without moving my hands from the steering wheel. It even muted the radio/tape player while the phone was active.
If somehow your mobile automatically answered - the calling number may be stored in 'rapid retrieval mode' - and by accidently by pressing a key the last call in was then dialled out.
If you are on Pay & Go, any excessive charges from dialling these unknown numbers will have already become apparent. If you are on monthly account, it wouldn't hurt to check your balance.
Another option to consider - you may have the ability to disallow dialled numbers - only numbers in your Phone Book can be called. Check through your settings to see if that is an option. I know that when these gadgets first came out, some parents gave locked mobile phones to their kids so that only numbers the parents had placed in the Phone Book could be used (or 999).

Hi Nauticus.
Thanks for your advice. I have had a look at the menu on the phone and it does not appear to have any number locking on the dialling out facility. Anyway, I will just keep an eye on any dialled out numbers and make a note of any numbers I have dialled myself. Also, I never use the hands free plugin so any automatic answering if it is on the phone will not happen. In saying I don't use the hands free does not mean that I use the phone in the car, it stays in the boot of the car.
As I mentioned before, if it happens again I will just buy a cheapie phone on the Three network.

I seem to remember that a lot of the old Nokia phones have the on-off switch at the top and a brief press of the switch locks the keys - I could be wrong though!

Just had a thought - If your phone is "young enough" to have Bluetooth, somehow, somebody else's hands-free could have connected to your phone. They would normally need confirmation by you to connect - but sometimes a key can be pressed accidentally before the keyguard locks. As I said, just a thought.

I too have one of these Nokia's. They dial out, they dial in.... it's a phone!
It won't take pictures, it won't internet, it won't connect to your mates car stereo half way through a call. It won't do internet banking so the money is safe and it can't be hacked. It can't be tracked so only I know where I am!
It also survives being left on deck in the rain, two trips to the bottom of the mooring and a plummet from the roof of the car when I forgot it was up there and drove off.
It's a phone, it's bombproof and it's perfect.
If I am a "woody" how come there are no "fibreglassy's" "plasticy's" or "steelies"?

Thanks for your input Janet Anne and all the other people who have replied to this thread. With regards to Janet Anne's post I totally agree, it is just a phone and it works for what it is.
It appears that it seems to be a glitch in the network, and it appears that nobody on this forum has experienced this glitch.

The BEST type of mobile phone - imho!!! (although the phone company can identify which cell you are connected to - but that is all)
