Not Broads or Boaty related but I wonder if any of you very clever people out there might be able to advise a very simple (minded) Confused technophobe on a problem with my HP Deskjet 3050A printer?
The problem has arisen after changing an ink cartridge & is probably due to me either pressing or not pressing the right button Blush
If you think you can help, would you please PM me for all the sordid details as I would only like a few forum members to know of my level of technical "thickness".
Thank you in anticipation.

Hi OldBill

Did you remember to remove plastic tape using pink pull tab?

Here is a link to the relevant printer manual.

Hope this helps

Kind Regards

Just had problem with my HP printer too after changing ink cartridge. Won't take paper. Rang BT tech and they said the paper sensor isn't working anymore and only thing to do is replace printer!
Anything similar happening with yours?

Depending on how old is the printer and the number of ink cartridges it uses, it is often better and cheaper to scrap the old printer and buy a new one.
You will get better performance - usually - plus Bluetooth and maybe even remote printing. Most also come with a built in scanner and the ability to print onto CDs.

At the Ludham Computer Club we are often asked to sort out printer problems. The way to deal with this is always the same....... Ask Mr Google.

Just do a search on Google clearly stating what your problem is. If you are having a problem then other people will already have had the same issue and will have posted a solution on line.

You don't say what the problem is but if it happened after changing a cartridge then a faulty cartridge is the most likely explanation. Try another one.

Hope this helps

Is it a HP branded cartridge? some none branded ones will not work with some printers, or there are chips to be reset.
Sometimes you have to do paper realignment, or do a test print.
Not sure on this model, but I guess there is plenty of info on the web with more info than my pure guesses.

best regards, Richard.

Can't wait to be back on our boat on

Thanks for suggestions.Cartridge is HP,covering was removed, printer is only 3yrs. old  & not used too much (this was only the 3rd. black cartridge put in)  everything was going as normal until I accidentally (read stupidly) stopped the print of the alignment sheet halfway through. I reprinted the sheet, but when it should have scanned, the printer informed that "Alignment failed, cartridges set to default quality" & although the alignment page still prints, when trying anything else, the paper just sails straight through.
I did change to Windows 10 from 7 shortly before, could that possibly have had any effect? as it appears to have made a pig's ear of my photo folders.
I will try the suggestions PM'd from Mercator & if unsuccessful,go to Google.
Will let you know how things go.

I agree with woodwose and use google to find solutions for all sorts of issues with anything absolutely whatsoever.

Try the following link for your problem.

Windows 10 does not like some software and hardware that used to work fine in Windows 7. I reverted back to 7 as 10 refused to recognise two of my printers.
In your case, this will not be the problem as you have already managed to print while using Windows 10 OS.
If your printer will still not work as it should you could always uninstall  and then reinstall the printer software. This often will solve problems.
