Hi - We are hiring our first boat on the broads in June. Can anyone recommend the best mobile broadband to use on the broads.

Yeah, leave it at home. You're supposed to be on holiday!

Adrian hi,

I'm afraid there are areas where you are lucky to get a signal good enough for a phone signal let alone broadband. Horning and Ranworth Broad being 2 of such places. Who needs broadband when you are in such lovely surroundings.

You will find some places including The Swan Inn at Horning have wifi.

I have found Vodafone to be the most reliable for mobile phones.

Forget the broadband just enjoy.

Kind Regards
Alan...

Hi Alan, Many thanks for your reply. Whilst I agree with the other posts about enjoying the broads we have our son and first 20 week old grandson !! with us and it would have been good to keep in touch with the rest of the family. I have a "3" mifi and an O2 dongle but wanted to ask if there was a more reliable provider.
Regards Adrian

Hi 3G mifi would be the best solution. I have "3" mifi and an O2 dongle for the laptop but wanted to know if there was a more reliable solution that others had tried.

Regards Adrian

The ones I have mentioned have always worked 100% down South and when up North apart from those mentioned I think you will be just fine.   Will you be North or South?

Hi, Adrian...welcome to the NBF! Cheers

Although we find Vodafone to provide the best mobile coverage generally, we did use a pay-as-you-go 3 broadband dongle last week and found if to be excellent in those places where a strong signal was present such as Thurne Dyke.

Unfortunately, as we were in Horning for much of the time, the mobile coverage 'black hole' there provided its usual hinderance. Smile

hi there ,
welcome to the forum , mobile communcation is slowly getting better on the broads ,but unforunately certain areas do have black holes ,and no signal there , as dibbler mentions horning is terriable ,you may get the odd bar or to ,and call might reach you ,other blackholes we find are gay stahite ,womack water , even ranworth , but others may say different ,
