Have had a problem with this page only for the past couple of weeks, when I browse any topic if it has been visited before,I get multiple history pages on the back button
Therefore if I am not logged in the only way to get back to the last 24 hours is to refresh the page by the favourites button
If the topic is new the back button works ok

I use Firefox and have not had this issue - so presume it is your local machine - can you try reseting things in firefox to their defaults and then trying again?  Or clearly your history and temp files - keeping bookmarks etc.

One good tool generally I use for keeping things tip top is - it is free, though the design of the website will attempt you to get the paid for version which is identical but has some added support and automatic updates.

If all else fails 'roll back' your machine using System Restore to an early date in time prior to when the issues first cropped up.
