OK, I know its off subject, and not even any of my business but please sirs, what are G4AXA and G4ONF. My best guesses are light aircraft or Ham radio.

Indeed you are correct in your assumption that G4AXA, G4ONF and G3IOR are amateur radio callsigns. There are quite a large number of us in Norfolk, many of whom are fans of The Broads.

I taught over 300 people for the examination required to obtain an amateur radio licence, but now it is possible to get 'on the air' very easily with a 'novice' type licence, with some limitations though.

The Norfolk Amateur Radio Club, who meet at the Norwich Airport venue every Wednesday have members who teach for these if anyone is interested in joining us.

I've attached a photograph of our bungalow at Hemsby Marrams, for those who earlier asked where this was.

Regards,   Pat (G3IOR)

Maurice, you wrote "I don't suppose you have any use for a pair of 26 to 30 Mz President Lincolns do you?"

Thank you for that offer, Maurice. Radio Amateurs are allowed to possess these on the proviso that they have been modified to meet the requirements laid down by the WTA, ITU and the BR68 licence.

Indeed, they convert to use on our 28 - 29.8 MHz exclusive amateur radio band.

Would you wish for me to come to collect them from you at a convenient time? I think I may well be able to find a good home for them.

Regards, Pat (Amateur Radio G3IOR)

Hi Pat, Didn't expect to find you here! although nothing suprises me about you. Its been a few years since we last spoke, I haven't been active on the radio for some time now although the shack is still in place all be it a bit dusty. Hows Norma, ok I hope and I expect still producing marvelous paintings. I see you still have the Marrams, we(Sandra and I) still walk the dog that way quite often (we do pick up after him, honest) but haven't managed to bump into you. All the best for now. Ian G0RVF

My goodness, but we do meet some good old friends on this site. Ages since I saw/heard you Ian. But I too get very little amateur radio these days. My marine environmental groups keep me busy most of the time.

We shall probably be down at the bungalow again in May so hope to see you then when you go 'walkies' with your canine. Just be sure not to do the same at Pakefeild!

Best wishes, 73,  Pat, G3IOR

Nigel,
Not sure if you have heard but Pat Gowen - G3IOR -  has passed on.

Not sure exactly when he went silent key, and not sure if you know.

Other Radio Amateurs on here may have know him as well.
RIP Pat - G3IOR

Yes, I did know about Pat. I often used to talk to him on 2m. His voice of protest about coastal erosion was a constant theme. I will miss chatting to him.
Well done for finding this ancient thread.
