Looking for a boathouse big enough for our newly aquired 37' Broom Commander. Will rent, buy or squat. Northern Broads but not past PH Bridge or Wroxham Bridge as she's got a fixed wheelhouse. There is one for sale off Beech Road but it's too small (looks like up to 25' will fit in).

This is my 1st post so be kind - or at least helpful.

Thanks  Smile

Click on the thread named "wet shed moorings" http://www.the-norfolk-broads.co.uk/viewmessages.cfm?Forum=47&Topic=29445
there is a chap from Horning offering just what you want but a touch pricey IMHO, what boat did you buy?

Thanks Dave,

I had actually read that thread previously. I know about Richardson's wet shed as I was in there a couple of weeks ago. It's like a museum!

I've bought "Cynric" a custom twin engined Broom Commander built in '66. Now fitted with modern Nanni's and moored up inside Broom's wet shed.

Have you got details of the guy/ boat house in Horning please?

Cheers,

Mark

Hi you must have read it before he posted on Tuesday but here it is.
"know that large wet shed are very few and far between but if anybody wished to protect their boat from costly maintenance and is interested, I have a private wet boat shed to let.
It will take boats up to 13ft 6ins beam, up to 46ft 6ins long under cover and more projecting and is unusually high, being from 12ft 9ins to 14ft (the latter between beams). Electricity, water and parking conveniently to hand.
It is in Horning off river and the rent is £2,627 plus vat. Enquiries to privatemoorings@btinternet.com"

If your in Brooms at the moment you must be one of the ones crammed in this winter we are moored in there with Andorra.

Hello Mark.
Cynric a great boat the only twin screw commander they ever built, (I believe).
I am glad to see her back from the Thames.

In-between my posting and now Pam from Broadland Yacht Brokers contacted me with the contact details of the wet shed in Horning. Going there tomorrow to check it out and hopefully make it Cynric's new home.

Thanks all.

Mark

Oh yes, Cynric is a beauty! Saw her when she was for sale on the Thames. Have been looking longingly at the recent sales ad and dreaming for some time now Smile

Only prob for us is we truly love our Ranworth mooring but if we had a boat like that  we would of course need a wet shed. So its onwards and upwards with the plastic variety but I will still be jealous when I see you on the river.

Hope you get a wet shed sorted out, and all the very best for your first season with Cynric.

Well we looked at a number of boats and were quite adamant that we wanted to get through PH and Wroxham bridges before we saw Cynric. Nothing else offered the layout, level of equipment & quality of finish as she did and so in the end it was quite an easy decision.

Looking forwards to our first season together and I'm sure you'll see us often.

Will update the thread tomorrow after we've secured the wet shed in Horning.

I can confirm Cynric will be moored in her very own wet shed in Horning from April.

A stroke of luck really and there's room for our halfdecker too!

Thanks for all your comments.
