Just returned from a very quick visit and a lovely sail down to Potter Heigham. Not sure if this has been suggested before but if "the crew" are short of things to see or do, then we found a very useful and free way of entertaining the children while cruising. All you need is a Hoseasons or Blakes catalogue and a pen, and see how many you can spot. It becomes obsessive, especially if you are 40...... Even which number Magic Gem or which particular Bridge (one might have seen or not seen), becomes critical.

Great idea, I'll keep this one in mind; for next year. I used to have a few "eye spy" books, I'm guessing this is where you got the idea?

I'm sure I remember one of the agencies used to do an eye_spy type book- I think you even got extra points for spotting a Commissioners launch!

OK my ignorance is going to shine through here but I'm going to ask anyway.
What the hell is a Commissioners launch?

Before the Broads Authority was invented the Broads was run by the Great Yarmouth Port and Haven Commissioners. The guys in the launches wore brass-buttoned uniforms and peaked caps and knew everything, including if you were intending to break the speed limit that day ( it seemed like it,anyway ) lol.

Ah. Thanks for that. I'm probably too young to remember. That's why I didn't know. Believe that and you'll believe anything.  Smile
