Don't know if anyone makes use of such devices but i have recently purchased a tide clock for use on the Broads and i must say i find it quite handy. I set it up using the Norfolk Broads Tide Table in line with the Full Moon high tide timings for Great Yarmouth. As my boat is moored at St Olaves, i just calculate the additional time added, (in this case 1 and 1/2hr), and hey presto, if it's set right, it's fairly accurate until the next New or Full Moon phase, although sometimes i find it can fluctuate.
Just have to bear in mind the location you navigate to, the additional tidal times that need to be added whilst it's set for GY tide times!

They are a real boon and do save looking stuff up, I have one on my watch but ony ever use it at sea, in fact I only ever wear a watch at sea these days. I guess time pales into insignifecence on the Broads and we all just slow to local time, which is generally "not dark yet" "dark now" or "soon be light"

A ping pong ball has many uses, the most amusing one I find is as a 04:00 alarm clock.

I have to say I've been fancying one of these for a while now, to put next to my weather station with moon phases!

No, I am not taking the piddle. Mike likes his gizmo's and gadgets, and I like mine!
