I've done a search and can't find anything on these. I'm after a mudweight as a replacement more in keeping for the Broads than the Anchor that came with our boat. As all the fittings are Stainless it would just be more in keeping than the standard ones. I've seen some on other craft but have checked with several chandlers but they only do the standard versions. I know some standard ones are painted Silver but several I have seen are clearly stainless or are encased in a stainless jacket. Any help appreciated.
Regards Perry

Perry, I had the same problem, and asked the same type of question in this forum ages ago. Thhe nearest I got was a firm near to Stalham that could chrome a cast iron mudweight, which I can also get done up here in Yorkshire. Then a breakthrough via Norfolk Afloat and a picture. Stainless Steel mudweights are available, they are basically a stainless steel jacket, lead filled to your required weight then the top welded on. I'm d*mned if I can lay my hands on the Name / Telephone number for you right now - but rest assured I will as I need to order one myself. Yours, Griff (Broad Ambition Project Manager)

Or, for the DIYers .......... you can get a SS pudding basin & SS "U" bolt, fix the "U" bolt to the bottom of the basin & fill with concrete or lead. David

Thanks Paul for the web site. David DIY would not be my chosen subject if sat in the 'Black Chair' part of my education in my formative years that was sadly missing and which I have never caught up on

Just took up David's advice and got myself a stainless steel basin to make up a mud weight. Got it from Roys £3.99 ! I could have done with a heavy one over this weekend what with all the high winds! It is a 2ltr size so will part fill with lead then cement. Will let you know the weight after I have made it. The woman in the shop asked me what I was going to use it for? I told her I was going to take up hairdressing!

Hi there Have seen s/s mudweights for sale at DRL Marine Chandlery, Horning but they are rather pricey - so the homemade version may be the better option.
