Hi Chilcol What do you mean by bench refurbished?? overhauled or annual service as per the manufacturer's guide ie check bellows top up/change oil, or lift boat out to remove leg, you should be able to check bellows and oil with boat in the water.John

Annville, You cannot check the oil level of any Mercruiser legs that I am aware of while it is still in the water. It should be filled with oil from the bottom, with the leg vertical, until it is level with the upper level hole.
The bellows is also a problem as it is so closely encased by the upper leg and gimble assembly that it is difficult to get your hands to - let alone see it! I've replaced the bellows on my Alpha leg a couple of times and its not for the faint-hearted. You need fingers like pipe cleaners to get in there.

Hi Andy Never done Mercruiser legs only Volvo legs which can be checked/ topped up in the water sounds expensive to maintain perhaps that's why they are not as popular as Volvo. John
