You all seem to be talking about Diesel prices on the Broads well i am one of the unlucky ones who have petrol engines i will be visiting the Broads in May/June/July what can i expect to pay for Petrol,in Chichester Marina South Coast it is 97pence a litre.and cheaper the more you buy.Thanks

Hi,
about the same here,but not many yards sell it,best bring a couple of jerry cans.
If you moor at Stalham its a short walk to Tescos,
If you moor at Acle get a taxi to the Garage,
I think there is a thread on here somewhere as to which yards sell petrol,
I allways carry a spare 25 litre tank.

can't answer your question for sure, though we were told its not cheap to get petrol on the Broads and we'd be just as well using a can and getting it from a petrol station! I have no idea how true that is... and I realise that option is not really open to you, coming all the way by boat from Chichester...
but,to go off topic, as we often do, can we please have a pic of your lovely boat so we can recognise you! Can't see much from your avatar - assuming that IS your boat...!

I have bought petrol ONCE and only ONCE as it was bought from Brundall and cost me £1.50 per liter.
I found out why they didnt display the cost !!!
NEVER AGAIN.!!!

Presumably by the looks of the vessel (looks like a Spirit 3000?) it has at least one 5.0l V8 so cans are out of the question exept in an emergency. Local unleaded petrol prices are around 1.00 to 1.40 per litre. If you come in through Lowestoft the you can fill up at The Waveny river centre, Brundall is anther place on the south rivers. The only pumped bankside petrol that I know of on the north is at Horning. There are a few other places if you want to carry cans for a small 20hp outboard or similar.
The last stop for petrol on your way up the East coast is Levington, the last time we filled up there it was £1.10 per litre, thank goodness we changed to diesel this year, now I guess Our Chancellor will be not asking for a continued derrogation on red diesel so that will be £1.50 by this time nex year as well.

when I owned a motor cruiser, about four years ago, I was charged over a pound a litre from Brooms yard at Brundall. I think the reason its expensive is due to safety regulations and insurance.

Must be alot of insurance and safety regulations to replace the duty that surely should only be charged when it is for use on the road  Like the differential with fuel oil and diesel.

I paid £1.00 a litre at the Waveney River Centre last summer, which I thought was OK for the location.

Hi Mark,
Petrol carries the same duty whatever it is used for unfortunately, in 10 years of running a V8 petrol powered boat I dread to think how much duty we have paid, thank goodness we finally saw sense and specified a diesel for the new boat.
