JM, you never disappoint me... tounge-in-cheek

I've just rung Cooper's, no joy.

I've also had a quote for repair and re-chrome...around £100 for the pair. Doesn't sound alot, if you say it quickly.

Paledine,

I can get them re-chromed for you in Sheffield much cheaper than that, if you can get them braised up I would be happy to get them done.

Dave

if it is to be it is up to me!

Sorry about Coopers. Another source of that era was a company called Carrs. Can't remember the boss's first name but I do remember his wife, hers is Jean. If you happen to be going past Coldham Hall just pop in and ask if the Carrs are about. He used to be Commodore of the Brundall Motor Boat Club, might be able to track him down via that route. There is a retail/trade hinge/shop in Norwich, can't think of its name at the moment.

TerryTibbs, thanks for that offer.

JM, you might be thinking of A C Leigh in St Benedicts - another negative.

How about having a chat with the guys at Richardsons? They would no doubt have used a few over the years and might be able to point you in the right direction.

Paladine's photo showed the dimensions as 55mm on the short strap and 140mm on the long strap.

I've scoured all of my likely suppliers and could find noting with straps longer than 100mm ( 4" ).

I'm a cheapskate nyself and £100 would be out of the question for me Wink  .

I think I'd use a smaller propriety stainless strap hinge and cut a stainless plate to go under the long strap to match the shape of the GRP moulding. It would blend in, be stronger than chromed brass and be so much cheaper !

maybe a longer equal leg strap hinge could be cut down on one leg.

Grendel, I've researched your Reliant idea and, while of similar single tail design, those hinges are too small. However, including p+p the cost for a pair would be around £80, so I'm getting the idea that, whichever solution I go with, it ain't exactly gonna be cheap!
