Well Gas for me personally would be the very last resort.
The ticking from the pumps can be a problem I do agree, but with a bit of cunning and forethought that can be reduced. We used to suffer from the ticking horrendously onboard, it is much better now and after our latest mod (still on our snagging list) should be sorted once and for all. Then I'll post up details and everyone will have no excuses to put up with the blasted ticking ever again. Mind you in spring/summer/autumn ours is never on overnight anyway.
